03The challenge
FITNESS PRODUCTS OFTEN GIVE PEOPLE MORE DATA THAN CLARITY.
The product had to enter a highly competitive market and serve users with very different experience levels. It needed enough depth to be useful without repeating the overload, restrictions and complexity people disliked in existing fitness apps.
Create an intuitive MVP with a clear visual structure, flexible data priorities and motivation tools grounded in real user needs—then prepare it for a smooth development handoff.
04Research
I benchmarked six direct and indirect competitors, then recruited participants through fitness communities on Telegram, Reddit and Instagram and conducted around 10 in-depth interviews about tracking habits, frustrations and motivation.
DK / ENERTRACKIrrelevant advanced metrics, complex features and advertising made tracking feel harder than it needed to be.
Personal goals, visible progress, virtual rewards and non-intrusive reminders helped users maintain momentum.
Most participants tracked progress privately, while some wanted a simple way to share results with friends or coaches.

05Process
Research became a clear information architecture, then low-fidelity wireframes and an interactive prototype. Each stage reduced uncertainty before the interface moved into high-fidelity design.
DK / ENERTRACK
DK / ENERTRACKI translated research and requirements into information architecture and the core user flows.
Wireframes made it possible to test hierarchy and functionality before investing in visual detail.
An interactive Figma prototype exposed usability issues early and helped refine the main flows.
Regular reviews, component logic and documented specifications reduced ambiguity during handoff.
The core experience stays simple, while more advanced functionality can be discovered over time.
I focused the main views on steps, calories, distance and heart rate instead of dense dashboards.
Achievable milestones and rewards give users a reason to return without relying on intrusive prompts.
Prototype reviews and clear component documentation kept design decisions aligned with development.
06Product solution
The solution prioritises the information people need now, while keeping deeper statistics and motivational tools one clear step away.
01 / DASHBOARD
A flexible dashboard lets people prioritise the metrics that matter to them—from activity and running to sleep or weight tracking.
DK / ENERTRACK02 / INSIGHTS
Customisable filters turn raw measurements into a readable story, while optional sharing supports users who want external motivation.
DK / ENERTRACK03 / TRAINING
Filters help users find relevant video workouts, and detailed screens keep the timer, description and preview in one clear flow.
DK / ENERTRACK04 / MOTIVATION
A reward-based path turns long-term goals into achievable milestones and recognises progress without adding pressure.
DK / ENERTRACK07Design system
I defined the visual identity, typography, hierarchy, reusable components and documented states. The UI kit gave the team a consistent foundation for the MVP and future product development.

08Outcome
Active users in the first two months
Increase in user retention
Investment secured
The outcome went beyond the interface: the MVP improved engagement and retention, secured business support, and gave the team a reusable system and clearer handoff for continued product development.
